Abstract
Political connections are difficult or expensive resources for companies. Politics is a determining factor for companies to get profits. This research is the effect of political connections on financial performance and corporate funding decisions. The sample in this study are companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2014-2017. The results of the study explain that political connections have a negative effect on financial but not significant, what mean that companies with political connections performance lower than companies do not political connections. In addition, political connections have negative effect on financing decisions, which means that politically connected companies tend to have lower debt compared to companies that are not politically connected but not significant. Overall, this study explains that politically connected companies do not use political ties so that they cannot improve company performance and the cost of debt is very hight if the company is politcally connected.
