Abstract
This research aims to determine the credit risk that control carried out by CIMB Niaga Bank Branch Mayjen Sungkono Surabaya in an effort to create a healthy bank. The background of this research is, since the credit risk still become one of the challenges in the Indonesian banking industry in 2018. The credit risk could be reflected by the ratio of Non Performing Loans (NPLs). The higher this ratio would be shown the greater of the credit risk borne by the Bank. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive study, with primary data in the form of interviews and secondary data in the form of credit collectability or the amount of loans channeled and also the number of non-performing loans in the period January to December 2018. The result of the research indicates that CIMB Niaga Bank Branch Mayjen Sungkono Surabaya has carried out credit risk management quite well. This is evidenced by the Non Perfoming Loan (NPLs) on average in 2018, amounting to 3% of Bank Indonesia's stipulation a maximum of 5%. The credit risk control carried out by CIMB Niaga Bank Branch Mayjen Sungkono Surabaya is divided into two based on the classification of debtors. For new debtors, if the measurement of credit risk exceeds the specified limit, the credit is rejected. While for the old or existing debtors in the event of installment arrears would be carried out such as: telephone, warning letters I and II, collection comes to meet the debtor until the last step write off.
