Abstract
students must have the ability and deeper knowledge about the world of work. one of the careers that require skills and knowledge is a career in public accounting. public accountant is a professional services responsible for the conduct of the audit function or financial statements. this study aims to determine whether the financial reward / salary, professional training, professional recognition, social values, work environment, labor market considerations and personality differences accounting student perceptions about the factors that distinguish the selection of a career as a public accountant. the sample used in this study were 79 students majoring in accounting s1 stie perbanas surabaya and 79 students majoring in accounting s1 stiesia surabaya. the sampling technique used in this study was convenience sampling. the analysis technique used in this research is descriptive analysis and indepedent t-test. the results of this study indicate that there are differences in the perception of accounting students who choose a career as a public accountant in terms of factor of financial reward / salary, professional training, professional recognition, social values, work environment and consideration of the labor market, while there are differences in the perception of students who choose career as a public accountant in terms of personality factors.
