Abstract
This research aims to know the relationship of emotional intelligence on the performance of students. For variables of emotional intelligence is measured using a detailed questionnaire in which there are five indicators that self introduction, self control, motivation, empathy and social skills. While the performance variables were measured through the level of the cumulative achievement index gained students. Population and sample the study using the respondent as much as 136 students in STIE Perbanas of Surabaya. Sampling techniques are used emotional intelligence the sampling convinience. Data analysis techniques used include: a descriptive analysis and analysis of the correlation of spearman. Through the process of data analysis and discussion of the test results are inconsistent with the theory of Mc Clelland conclusion needs emotional intelligence consists of self recognition, self-control, motivation, empathy and social skills in the study of his statistically has no relationship to the student's performance.
