Abstract
Household financial management behavior becomes very important because of failures in financial management will have a negative impact in the long term. The attitude of materialism and love of money makes people tend to make a purchase compulsively without regard to priorities and needs, and this can lead to the onset of the debt that has accumulated in the absence of the financial management of its well. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of the materialism and attitudes towards money on the behavior of household financial management behavior. This study uses survey by distributing questionnaires to 174 respondents who are in household financial management and is domiciled in Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, or Gresik. The sampling technique used purposive sampling by a family with a total income of at least $ 4,000,000 per month. By using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis (MRA), the results showed that the materialism and the negative attitude towards money is not a bad influence on the behavior of household financial management.
