Abstract
This study aims to analyze and examine the influence of financial experience and financial literacy on financial well-being, with financial behavior as a mediating variable and perceived dependents as a moderating variable. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon of the low financial literacy index in Indonesia, which impacts an individual's ability to achieve stable financial well-being. In the context of behavioral finance, understanding how past experiences and literacy levels shape financial behavior is crucial. The research method used is quantitative with an explanatory research design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 200 respondents. The data analysis technique uses Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the structural relationships between variables. The results show that financial experience and financial literacy have a positive and significant effect on financial well-being. The role of financial behavior is proven to significantly mediate the relationship between literacy and financial experience on financial well-being, indicating that knowledge and experience must be implemented in appropriate behavior to achieve prosperity. A unique finding in this study is that perceived dependents are proven to act as a moderating variable that weakens the influence of financial literacy on financial well-being. This indicates that high family dependent burdens can be a psychological and financial barrier to achieving stability even if the individual has good literacy. This research suggests the importance of more comprehensive financial education by considering demographic aspects and family burdens.
