Abstract
insurance emerges due to unlimited human needs while resources are limited. one of the benefits is protection to gain safety. the need of insurance protection sourced from overcome uncertainty. the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of financial literacy and lifestyle on life insurance awareness as well as the role of gender in moderating influence of financial literacy and lifestyle on life insurance awareness. the research was undertaken at surabaya and sidoarjo. the sample taken was 152 with non-probability sampling method especially purposive sampling and convenience sampling. data collection undertaken through questionnaire. analysis technique using multiple linear regression. result of the research shows that financial literacy affect significantly positive on life insurance awareness and lifestyle affects significant as well. this shows that the higher financial literacy and lifestyle the higher people’s awareness in applying life insurance. furthermore, gender has proven not affect life insurance awareness. this shows that men and women have the same financial literacy and lifestyle on life insurance awareness.
