Abstract
Capital market as one economic instrument which can’t be separated from environmental influences economic and non - economic where political events included. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there are difference in abnormal return in the group LQ-45 before and after presidential election in Indonesia in period 2004, 2009, and 2014.Sample of this study is shares which joined LQ45 index. Variable is abnormal return. Analysis method used in this study is paired sample t-test.The result of this study is there are difference in abnormal return significantly in the group of LQ-45 before and after presidential election in indonesia period 2004, 2009, and 2014. This suggests that the presidential election as a useful informer for investors to implement the action strategy of buying and selling shares to acquire return. Investors need to know fundamental analysis related information on the economic, industrial and conditions of the company itself, not the psychological factor is the reference investment decisions.
