Abstract
The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus since 2019, has made the tourism & recreation industry experience financial distress during the current pandemic. This study examines the effect of liquidity, leverage, profitability, sales growth, and company size on financial distress in the recreation & tourism industry listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 4th quarter of 2019, quarters 1 to 4 of 2020, and quarters 1 to 2 of 2021. The sample consists of 33 companies, 231 company data, where 189 companies experience financial distress in the danger zone, 35 companies in financial distress in the gray zone, and 7 companies in non-financial distress. The condition of the occurrence of financial distress is indicated by the company from the Altman z-score value. The data analysis technique used logistic regression analysis and data processing using SPSS 24. The results showed that leverage, sales growth, and firm size had no effect on financial distress. The liquidity and profitability have a significant effect on financial distress.
