Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of profitability, liquidity, leverage, and operating cash flow in predicting Financial Distress. A sample of 40 basic and chemical industrial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2016-2020 period was taken by purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique used logistic regression. Based on the results of the analysis at a significance level of 5%, profitability has a significant negative effect in predicting financial distress, while operating cash flow has a significant negative effect at a significance level of 10%. Leverage and liquidity have no significant effect in predicting financial distress. The significant negative effect of profitability and operating cash flow means that the greater the profitability and the greater the operating cash flow, the less likely the occurrence of financial distress. This happens because the greater the operating cash flow, the greater the company's ability to generate cash compared to its use and the greater the profitability of the company, the greater the company's ability to pay all its obligations, which will reduce the possibility of the company experiencing financial distress. Keywords: Profitability, Likuidity, Leverage, Operating Cashflow, and Financial Distress
