Abstract
Indonesia has now entered the free trade arena or so-called ASEAN Economic Community (MEA). MEA is a free market system among ASEAN member countries that eliminates tax or customs and the freedom of a country to enter goods or labor to other countries. However, many parties doubt the readiness of Indonesian industry in this trade competition. One of the affected sectors of the MEA is the manufacturing sector that deals with the areas of capital, goods and services as well as labor. The existence of the ASEAN Economic Community of manufacturing companies in Indonesia should be able to make improvements in order to maintain its performance so as to compete with companies in ASEAN and internationally. This study aims to determine the effect of intellectual capital and firm size on the profitability of companies in the manufacturing sector production companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) period 2011-2015. The sample in this research is 29 manufacturing companies with purposive sampling sampling technique. Data analysis techniques in this study using Partial Least Square (PLS). Based on the results of testing in this study by showing that intellectual capital has a significant effect on profitability, while firm size variables have no significant effect on profitability Keyword : intellectual capital, firm size, profitability, manufacturing companies, partial least square
