Abstract
The euphoria driven by Joko Widodo's election as president of the Republic of Indonesia in 2014 called by Jokowi Effect. The investor expected that Jokowi Effect was able to improve the economy of Indonesia because Mr. Jokowi known as an honest, firm and friendly person. This study analyzed the Jokowi Effect on abnormal return and trading volume activity during the presidential election in 2014 which was occurred between 02 until 16 July of 2014. These study using event study. The observation was started on five days before until five days after the presidential election. The data that used in this study consist of the daily closing price of the financial sector index. The Expectation Return using a market adapted model. The samples used were stocks that included in the list of the financial sector in the BEI. Based on one sample t-test and paired samples t-test analysis the result showed that the Jokowi Effect did not happened on abnormal return, but it was happened for trading volume activity on the presidential election period in 2014.
