Abstract
Debt policy is one of the sources of external financing being used for operational activities of the company. The company is ability to manage the debt one of the ways to attract investors to infuse capital. The company has a good composition of the capital alone are larger than the debt. This study aims to examine the effect of institutional ownership, dividend policy, growth company, profitability, and business risk on debt policies. The subject of this study use the mining companies listed on the Indonesia stock exchange period 2012-2016. Sampling techniques used in this research is purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques used in this research is Multiple Linear Regression with SPSS 23. The results of data analysis shows that institutional ownership has a significant negative effect to corporate debt policies, while dividend policy, growth company, profitability and business risk have no effect on corporate debt policies. This means that the proper institutional ownership can help in corporate debt policy.
