Abstract

this objective of this research is to investigate the impact of locus of control and materialism towards on college students financial management behavior in surabaya with impulsive buying as a mediator variable. the population of the research was the college students in gerbang kertasusila. the samples were taken by using the purposive sampling technique. the data of the research were gathered through questionnaire. the data of the research were analyzed by sem-pls. the result of the research shows that the locus of control has an impact of -0,20 on the financial management behavior of the college students with a negative significance, and materialism has an impact of -0,03 on the financial management behavior of the college students with a negative non significance. so it can be said that the locus of control and materialism has an adequate affect on the financial behavior management. when the locus of control increases, the financial behavior decreases, and when the materialism increases, the financial behavior decreases. and, the examination result showed that materialism has an impact on financial management behavior with impulsive consumption as mediator variabel.
