Abstract
Financial management occurs in every family necessarily held by the housewife role. Based on the phenomenon that occurs when the housewife is certainly in control of finances in the family. In the family finances would require a strategy used by every housewife. Thus the researchers wanted to know whether there is an accounting role in the strategy of managing the household finances. Accounting happened to the household is different from existing accounting in large organizations. Accounting can simply be applied by the housewife, one of accounting's role in the household is recording. This study was a qualitative method. In this study, researchers conducted interviews to three informants are distinguished by the type of work, the housewife with a full time job, a housewife with a part-time job, and a housewife who does not work. The results of this study are housewives taking notes as a reminder that it has made any transaction in, so it can be a strategy by housewives in managing finances next month. Other findings in this study are housewives keep records in order to prove to her husband that the husband understand what expenses each month and apart from the husband to the wife suspicious.
