Abstract
Green economy is a concept that supports human welfare, environment and ecosystems preservation in accordance with the purpose, principles, and economic system of Islam, which is human welfare along with the quality improvement in human life and nature. This is a library research discussing the concept of green economy from maqashid al-shariah perspective with content analysis. A discussion of the purpose of the shariah (maqasid al-shariah) is also used as tool of analysis of this study. The study reveals the need to add hifz albi'ah (environmental preservation), --forit has been clearly stated in Qur'an and al-Hadith-- the importance of environmental preservation. Concept and implementation of green economy, related to hifz al-din, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-'aql, hifz al-nasl, hifz al-mal, and hifz al-bi'ah, is also elaborated in detail, in accordance with Islamic economics. The essence of green economy objectives is highly appropriate with the objectives of economic laws of Islam for they possess same values of human and natural development as well as human welfare.
