Abstract
This study aims to analyze the implementation of Hifdzul Bi’ah (environmental preservation) from the perspective of Maqashid Sharia in the management of Bank Sampah Wani in Pabean Cantian, Surabaya. The background of this research is based on environmental problems resulting from suboptimal waste management, as well as the importance of preserving the environment as part of the objectives of Islamic law. Within the framework of Maqashid Sharia, environmental preservation is included in efforts to achieve public welfare (maslahah) and prevent harm (mafsadah). This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation involving the managers and customers of Bank Sampah Wani. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the management of Bank Sampah Wani reflects the values of Hifdzul Bi’ah through waste sorting, recycling activities, environmental education, and community empowerment. These programs not only maintain environmental cleanliness but also increase public awareness of responsible waste management. Furthermore, the activities of the waste bank embody the principles of ta’awun (mutual assistance), sincerity in upholding the trust of environmental stewardship, and the realization of maslahah for the surrounding community. Therefore, the management of Bank Sampah Wani can be categorized as a concrete implementation of Maqashid Sharia in the aspect of environmental preservation.
