Abstract

Consumptive behavior among students has become a growing phenomenon in line with changes in lifestyle and easy access to digital financial services. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, use of pay later services, and lifestyle on consumptive behavior among students, with self-control as a mediating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through the distribution of questionnaires to students studying at universities in the city of Surabaya. The research population 33 universities at universities in the city of Surabaya. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula with a 7% error rate. Of the 382 questionnaires collected, 247 respondents met the research criteria and were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results showed that financial literacy had a negative and significant effect on students' consumptive behavior. The use of pay later does not have a significant effect on students' consumptive behavior. Meanwhile, lifestyle has a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior. Self-control does not have a significant effect on consumptive behavior and is unable to mediate the influence of financial literacy and lifestyle on students' consumptive behavior
