Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the interest in buying cosmetic products labeled as halal to Muslim students in Surabaya. This study seeks to examine the interest in buying cosmetic products labeled as halal. The informants of this study are consumers or cosmetics users, namely the makeup chosen according to the criteria. Data mining is done by means of a snowball model that is looking for informants who truly represent the users of cosmetics, especially makeup in Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative approach, the analytical method used in this study is a case study. Data collection method in this research is to use interviews and documentation to a number of informants. The number of informants in this study is ten informants consisting of Muslim students in Surabaya who use makeup. The results of the study are that some Muslim female students pay attention to halal labels as important things that should be in the products to be used, but in reality many do not have the interest to buy cosmetic products labeled as halal because it is difficult to find a brand that has been certified halal or other personal reasons, and several other Muslim students do not question the existence of the halal label as something that must be present in the product to be used.
