Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze the level of technical efficiency of the regional development banks (BPD) in Indonesia on the first stage and analyze the influence of internal factors which is proxied by bank size, Non- Performing Loans (NPL), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Loans to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Net Interest Margin (NIM), and composition of deposits for the level of technical efficiency of the regional development banks (BPD) in Indonesia on the second stage. Population in this research is all Regional Development Bank (BPD)in Indonesia period 2013-2015 among 26 bank. The samples selection using Purposive Sampling method and obtained 25 samples. Data analysis techniques used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) on the first stage and multiple linear regression model on the second stage. The results of this study indicate that the inefficiency of Regional Development Bank (BPD) in Indonesia comes from non-interest operating income, bank size (size) and Loans to Deposit Ratio (LDR) have a positive and significant influence on efficiency level, Net Interest Margin (NIM) has a negative and significant influence on the efficiency level, while the Non-Performing Loans (NPL), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and Composite Deposits have no significant effect on the efficiency level. Suggestions for subsequent research may use proxies other than internal factors of the bank are technological resources, macroeconomics, and ETA (Equity to Total Asset) ratio to analyze the efficiency level as well as the parametric method of Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) and compare the results. Keywords : Technical efficiency, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), bank size, Non-Performing Loans (NPL), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Loans to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Net Interest Margin (NIM), composition of deposits, Regional Development Bank (BPD)
