Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out the factors that underlie the community to become customers of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil in Sidoarjo. Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) is a financial institution whose job is to collect public funds and channel funds to the public in the business sector. Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil used in this study were BMT UGT Sidogiri and BMT Madani. This study seeks to find out the factors that make people become customers in Baitul Maal wat Tamwil. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and the method of collecting data using data triangulation. The source of the data in this study was obtained through interviews with seven informants as well as observing or observing directly about the situation in the field, and using a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil customers in Sidoarjo. The results of the qualitative and quantitative research that have been done can be concluded that there are 19 factors that influence the community to become customers in the Baitul Maal wat Tamwil, and are reduced back into five groups of factors. The five groups of factors can later be used as variables in future studies. These five factors include: 1. Reputation of BMT, 2.Quality services, 3. Compliance with Islamic Sharia, 4.
