Abstract
the debt management behavior has become a very important issue nowaday. this is due to the society behavior of consumptions and implusive buying in surabaya city, which always follow trend so debt is an alternative for resolving issues fullfilment. this study aims to the influence financial knowledge, income on debt management behavior with self-control as a mediator variable. the sample consists of 285 respondent in surabaya city, which they were taken by means of purposive sampling and convinience sampling. the characteristic of respondents is live in surabaya, have income, productive age 18-55 years, have consumptive debt. using analysis structural equation modeling on pls (partial least square). the result showed that financial knowledge and income have a negative significant impact on debt management behavior. self control show have impact to debt management behavior, in other side self control had partial impact mediation financial knowledge and income to debt management behavior.
