Abstract
Changes occur in business area, it is shown by the tight competition between one companies to another in many sector. Therefore, it makes every company should have a perfect strategy to maintain its existence and develop even more. The purposes of this research (1) to see the reaction of stock market that shown by the significant stock price in particular time, and (2) to see the reaction of stock market that shown by the existence of trading volume activity in particular time. Purposive sampling is used to achieve the samples of 12 public companies that listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange and have performed merger and acquisition in 2005-2010, which within one year observation, before and after the merger and acquisition. The variables that used in this research are stock price and trading volume activity with one sample t-test as its test instrument. The result shows that merger and acquisition are reacted by the stock market. The reaction is that there is significant stock price and trading volume activity in that particular time.
