Abstract

The study was conducted to examine the effect of variable ratio CAMEL 2007, CAMEL, 2008, CAMEL, 2009, Inflation, interest rates, exchange rates and money supply on the current CAMEL as health indicator of go public banks in Indonesia. Data obtained by using purposive sampling method with (1) criteria for a conventional commercial banks which have gone public in Indonesia which publish financial statements for the study period of 2007-2010 (2) commercial banks other than Islamic banks because the criteria of conventional commercial banks is different with commercial Islamic banks, (3) conventional commercial banks which have gone public in Indonesia which have complete financial statements and financial ratios according to the variables to be studied during the observation period (2007-2010), (4) The observed banks do not do merger during the observation period (2007 -2010), (5) Banks under study are still in operation during the study period (2007-2010). The analysis's result shows that the data used in this study meets the classical assumptions, which includes : no symptoms of multicollinearity, there is no autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity symptoms do not occur, and the data are normally distributed. The result of regression analyzes indicate that only one of five independent variabels affects significantly to current CAMEL variabel. That variabel is last year CAMEL.
