Abstract

Regulation of Good Corporate Governance in Indonesia prohibits CEO duality. However, research by Gumanti and Prasetyawati, 2011 found there are 46 companies in Indonesia apply CEO Dual. The purpose of this study is to determine empirically the effect of CEO duality and Interlocking Directorship of the predictability of earnings in manufacturing companies on the Stock Exchange. In addition, this study also re-confirm the number of CEO duality in manufacturing companies on the Stock Exchange. This study used a sample of manufacturing firms in Indonesia Stock Exchange 2004-2010 period. The independent variables of this study is CEO duality and Interlocking Directorship, the dependent variable in this study is predictability of earnings, this study used a control variable, namely growth and leverage. Test equipment of this study is multiple linear test regression with the classic assumption test and ANOVA test, crosstab, and independent sample t-test for descriptive data. The results of this study are CEO duality have no significant effect on earnings predictability, but interlocking directorship significant on earnings predictability. This study uses two equations, namely CEO duality and interlocking directorship on earnings predictability, and control variables are growth and leverage. But with control variables in the second equation, the results CEO duality still not significant on earnings predictability. This is because the companies doing CEO duality in this study was found only 5 companies , while the interlocking directorship are found more than CEO Dual in Indonesia. Keywords: CEO duality, interlocking directorship, earning predictability
