Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of financial literacy, financial attitude, lifestyle, and consumptive behavior on the financial behavior of university students who use paylater services in Surabaya. This research employs a quantitative approach with a causal research design and a cross-sectional method. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey distributed to active university students who use paylater services in Surabaya using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results indicate that financial attitude and consumptive behavior have a positive and significant effect on the financial behavior of students who use paylater services. Meanwhile, financial literacy and lifestyle do not have a significant effect on financial behavior. These findings suggest that good financial attitudes and adaptive consumption patterns related to paylater usage play an important role in shaping students’ financial behavior. In contrast, possessing financial knowledge alone is not sufficient to directly influence financial behavior without being accompanied by appropriate attitudes and self-control. This study is expected to provide insights for students in improving financial management practices and for related stakeholders in designing financial education programs that are more behavior-oriented in the context of digital financial services. Keywords: Financial Behavior, Financial Literacy, Financial Attitude, Lifestyle, Consumptive Behavior, Paylater
