Abstract

Personal financial management refers to an individual’s ability to plan, organize, and control financial resources effectively in daily life. This skill is particularly important for students, as they are in a transitional phase toward financial independence. This study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy, lifestyle, allowance, and social media on students’ personal financial management at Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University Surabaya. The sample consisted of 154 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. This research applied a quantitative approach, utilizing primary data collected through questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS) with the support of WarpPLS software. The findings reveal that financial literacy and allowance have a positive and significant effect on students’ personal financial management, indicating that better knowledge and proper allocation of allowance enhance financial management skills. In contrast, lifestyle does not show a significant effect on personal financial management. Social media demonstrates a positive but not significant influence. These results highlight the importance of improving financial literacy and managing allowance effectively to support better financial decision-making among students in their everyday lives. Keywords: Financial Literacy, Lifestyle, Allowance, Social Media, Personal Financial Management.
