Abstract

Generation Z financial behavior is influenced by various factors, including financial literacy, hedonic lifestyle, and the use of fintech payments. This study aims to analyze the influence of these variables on Generation Z financial behavior by considering the mediating role of self control. Using a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to respondents in Sidoarjo Regency and Surabaya City. The results showed that financial literacy has a positive effect on financial behavior, while hedonic lifestyle has a positive impact on financial behavior. In addition, the use of fintech payments has a positive effect on financial behavior. Self-control is proven to be a mediating variable that weakens the positive impact of hedonic lifestyle on financial behavior. These findings underline the importance of improving financial literacy, hedonic lifestyle and fintech payments in strengthening self-control to support better financial management among Generation Z.
