Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reaction of the Indonesian capital market to two major political events, namely before and after the 2024 Presidential Election and before and after the announcement of the general election results. Using the event study method, this study examines the impact of these events on Abnormal Return (AAR) and Trading Volume Activity (TVA) in banking sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The results of the study show that there is no significant difference in the average abnormal return before and after the general election, as well as before and after the announcement of the general election results. This indicates that the market has anticipated the event in advance, so there is no substantial change in stock prices in response to the general election or its announcement. This study provides insight for investors and market players into how capital markets react to political events and strengthens the understanding of market efficiency in developing countries.
