Abstract

Waqf (Islamic endowment) is simply defined as holding back an asset and limiting its consumption and then enjoying the proceeds for the benefit of the beneficiaries. This concept makes waqf have a large and sustainable impact. This focus on the impact of waqf is so important that studies on the behaviour of waqifs and prospective waqifs, their level of trust in waqf institutions and their decision to pay cash waqf should be conducted properly. This study uses the Islamic religiosity approach by conducting path analysis estimation with structural equation model-partial least square (SEM PLS). Using a total sample of 65 samples, this study found several findings, namely: Waqf literacy, social media quality, and trust in waqf institutions significantly influence the intention to donate cash. Meanwhile, Islamic religiosity significantly moderates waqf literacy and social media quality on cash waqf intention. The estimation results mean that someone who has high waqf literacy and religiosity tends to have a much greater waqf intention. The same character applies to someone who has the ability to access high-quality social media and high religiosity. Finally, trust in waqf institutions is very important as it determines one's waqf behaviour.
