Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of leverage, activity, liquidity, and company size on profitability in the food and beverages sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data collection techniques used in this research are historical and descriptive data because the data used is the company's financial report data that has been published or collected by the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data source is secondary data in the form of financial reports of food and beverages companies listed on the IDX for the 2014-2019 period which can be accessed through the website www.idx.co.id. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with 17 companies that match the criteria. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of the SPSS program. The results show that (1) simultaneously, leverage, activity, liquidity, and company size on profitability have a positive and significant effect on the profitability of food and beverages companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, (2) partially, leverage has a positive and insignificant effect on profitability. , (3) activity has a positive and significant effect on profitability, (4) liquidity has a positive and significant effect on profitability, (5) company size has a positive and insignificant effect on the profitability of food and beverages companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The value of the coefficient of determination adjusted R-square of 0.192 means that the contribution given by DER (debt to equity ratio), TATO (total assets turnover) CR (current ratio), and SIZE (natural logarithm of total assets) to company profitability (ROA) is 19,2% and the remaining 80,8% is influenced by other variables outside the model.
