Abstract

Cost of quality are costs incurred by a company or organization because the possibility of poor quality. Cost of quality incurred by PT. Ajinomoto Indonesia is prevention costs, inspection costs, and internal failure costs. Application of quality costs is expected to reduce the number of defective products. Production planning is the activity of evaluating facts in the past and present to determine the production strategy and scheduling that is appropriate. Activities include planning production schedules, quality planning, and plans related to monitoring production activities. Manufacturing activities carried out by PT. Ajinomoto Indonesia starts from receiving raw materials, production processes, packaging processes, and product release. Evaluation of cost quality is done by reporting quality costs and compared to established standards. Quality improvement is expected to increase profitability through increasing demand and lowering costs by reducing defective products. This study aims to analyze the quality costs of defective products and their impact on company performance. The data used in this study are primary data obtained from company documents, observations, and in-depth interviews. This research is qualitative with a case study approach. The analysis shows that the total cost of quality incurred by PT. Ajinomoto Indonesia does not exceed established standards and defective products do not exceed the specified limits.
