Abstract
Insurance company profit growth in Indonesia is influenced by two factors: the level of health insurance companies and risk management activities because the activities of insurance companies is to manage and decrease a risk . The purpose of this study was to determine the effect on the solvency and profitability of insurance companies underwrote. This research is a quantitative study . The sampling technique is purposive sampling to certain criteria , namely the insurance companies listed on the Stock Exchange Inodonesia year period 2008-2012 and publish an annual report. The statistical analysis used is multiple linear regression. Hypothesis testing is done with the F-test and t-test at a significance level of 5 %. The test results showed the influence of the solvency and underwriting profitability that is equal to 12 %. Based on the results of hypothesis testing with F-test indicates solvency and underwriting simultaneously affect the profitability . And based on the results of t-test showed that the level of solvency and partially underwrote no positive effect on the profitability variable or variables significant negative effect on profitability.
