Abstract

The main function of bank institutions activitiy is finance intermediary from surplus unit to deficit unit or funding activities and lending activities. For government banks in Indonesia, funding activities include saving deposits and time deposits. On the other side, lending activities include commercial papers, credits, interbank placement. And than interest rate risk and inflation. This study uses secondary data from bank’s financial reports and inflation rate, during the first quarter 2006 to two quarter 2011. Sampling technique used was census with criteria total assets. Only has four state owned banks that meet these criteria, there are PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk., PT. Bank Mandiri Tbk., PT. Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk., and PT. Bank Tabungan Negara Tbk. Based on result of research, the influence of saving deposits, time deposit, commercial papers, credits, interbank placement, interest rate risk and inflation increases to net interest margin are significance and have influence 29.5 percent. Among those independent variables, only commercial papers variables has significance influence to net interest margin. The other results showed that commercial papers become the most dominant variable of 13.46 percent. Further, the commercial papers variable has strongest influence to net interest margin. From that independent variables seven in the fact five variables, which have suitability with net interest margin are, saving deposits, commercial papers, credits, interest rate risk and inflation.
