Abstract

Political connection is a resource for banks. Political connected bank can get many advantage from the government. The objective of the research is to examine the effect of political connection on bank performance using independent comissioner as moderating variable in Indonesian Bank. This study used 28 banks as sample : 14 as political connected banks and 14 non political connected banks. The research period was 2014-2017. The result shows that political connection had a significant positive effect on bank performance, while independent comissioner can not weaken the influent of political connection on bank performance. The implication of the result show that political connected banks have advantage from the government by getting cheaper funding. As a result political connected banks can increase bank performance.
