Abstract
This study to examine whether financial knowledge has a positive influence on retirement planning behavior, whether materialism has a negative effect on retirement planning behavior, and whether impulsive buying mediates the influence of materialism on retirement planning behavior. The sample used in this study is a person who became the manager of family finances, income of at least Rp 4,000,000 per month, and has a minimum of 2 years working experience in Surabaya, Gresik and Sidoarjo with 321 respondents. Analytical technique used is Partial Least Square (PLS) with the help of WarpPLS 6.0 software. The results of this study proves that financial knowledge has a significant positive effect on retirement planning behavior. But materialism has an effect that is not negative and insignificant to retirement planning behavior. The results of this study also indicate that impulsive buying mediates the influence of materialism on retirement planning behavior.
