Abstract
Financial management behavior in a family is needed to maximization income family and minimization financial risk. This study aims to examine the effect of attitude toward money and financial knowledge mediated by locus of control on financial management behavior. The samples in this research were 169 respondents in Kediri, Tulungagung, Trenggalek, Nganjuk, and Blitar which they were taken by means purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The characteristic of respondents such us family income that had a minimum total income Rp 4.000.000/month. Data were acquired by distributing the questionnaires. The analysis techniques used were multiple regression analysis, path analysis, and sobel test. Using SPSS 16.0 for Windows, this research found attitude toward money and financial knowledge have not significantly effect on financial management behavior, while locus of control has significantly effect to financial management behavior, and locus of control not significantly mediates the effect financial knowledge on financial management behavior.
