Abstract
Economic development in a country adjust to the dynamic development and the real contribution of the banking sector. Banking functions in economic development is to channel funds for economic activities, one of which is in the form of a time deposit to the community individual or business entity. Time deposit is a money deposit at a banking institution that cannot be withdrawn for a certain term or period of time. When the term is over it can be withdraw or it can be held for another term. The rate of return is higher than for savings accounts because the requirement that the deposit be held for a prespecified term gives the bank the ability to invest it in higher-gain financial product class.
