Abstract
Competitive business environment requires companies to planning a respond for changes that are expected to occur in the future. Performance measurement is part of the overall management process, so that every aspect of the company can be known and connected in order not to collide with each other, and management can make informed decisions for the benefit of the company in the long run. A standard of performance measurement needed for evaluation of the performance. Balanced Scorecard is one of the appropriate methods as performance measurement for reviewing the performance of the company, not only financial, but also in terms of non-financial. PT. Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PJB) is a company in the field of power generation. the changing of environment, limited choice of fuel for power generation, and government encouragement, spur PJB to be environmentally friendly electricity provider. To face an environmental change, need an efforts to achieve high standards in all areas so that performance continues to grow in all aspects, in terms of both financial and nonfinancial. This study aimed to measure the performance using the balanced scorecard to determine whether the goals set affects the performance of the company. Method of data collection was done with the participation of passive observation, semistructured interviews, and through the analysis of document. The results showed that balanced scorecard has been successful in improving the performance of PT. Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), and it also shows the relationship between goals and performance.
