Abstract

Academic dishonesty is a serious and growing issue in Indonesian higher education that threatens to undermine the moral foundation and quality of graduates. This study aims to analyze the effect of heptagon fraud on student academic dishonesty at Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas Surabaya. The Heptagon Fraud Theory is utilized as a comprehensive analytical framework comprising seven elements: pressure, opportunity, rationalization, capability, arrogance, greed, and ignorance. This study adopts a quantitative method with data collected via questionnaires distributed to 117 student respondents. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed as the data analysis technique to test the relationships between variables. The results show that capability, arrogance, and ignorance have a significant positive effect on student academic dishonesty. Meanwhile, pressure, opportunity, rationalization, and greed do not significantly affect student academic dishonesty. The implications of this research highlight the importance of strengthening personal integrity, providing academic ethics education, and enhancing supervision systems to address student capacity, arrogance, and disregard for academic integrity rules.
