Abstract

Firm value reflects investors’ perceptions of a company’s performance and future prospects, as indicated by its market stock price. This study focuses on analyzing the effect of profitability, liquidity, and capital adequacy on firm value, with divi-dend policy as a moderating variable in commercial banks in Indonesia. This re-search uses secondary data in the form of annual financial statements. The data were obtained from the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The sampling method applied was purposive sampling, resulting in 21 commercial banks with a total of 105 observations during the 2019–2023 period. The data analysis techniques employed include descriptive statistical analysis, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that profitability has a positive and significant effect on firm value before being moderated by dividend policy, liquidity has a negative and significant effect on firm value, and capital adequacy has a positive and significant effect on firm value. The moderation analysis shows that dividend policy moderates the effect of profitability on firm value, in which the effect of profitability becomes negative and insignificant after moderation. These findings imply that the enhancement of firm value in the banking sector is influenced not only by financial performance but also by dividend policy as a signaling mechanism for investors.
