Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is a long-term investment made by foreign investors by bringing capital into a country. FDI contributes significantly in promoting economic growth, creating job opportunities, and encouraging technology transfer and innovation that enhance industrial competitiveness. This study analyses the effect of exchange rates, economic growth, and interest rates on FDI in Indonesia. The data used in this study are secondary data from variables including foreign direct investment, the exchange rate of the Indonesian Rupiah against the US dollar, economic growth, and interest rates for the period 1993 to 2023. The analytical technique used in this study is multiple linear regression. The result indicate that partially, exchange rates and economic growth have a significant positive effect on FDI, while interest rates have a positive but not significant effect. Simultaneously, the study finds that exchange rates, economic growth, and interest rates have a significant positive effect on foreign direct investment in Indonesia. These findings emphasize the importance of exchange rate stability and economic growth in attracting foreign direct investment.
