Abstract
In terms of managing finances, both individuals and families tend to vary, such as setting aside some money to join retirement program, has a credit, transfering risk to insurance products, as well as invest fund to some assets. This study describes the importance of future-oriented thinking and experience in managing finances, in order to bring prosperity in the future by following pension funds. Not all families think about their welfare in the old age. Therefore, thinking about the future orientation and viewing experience, both personal experiences and experiences of others, will influence someone in setting aside their income to join pension fund planning. Data collection method that used in this study is survey method, that is questionnaire. Then the population in this study is family financial management in Surabaya, and sampling technique that being used is convinience sampling and purposive sampling. Then the family financial management criteria has provisions of having minimum monthly income of Rp 2.000.000, - Keywords: future orientation, financial experience, financial attitude, and retirement planning
